Join us in the studio Nov 6-8 for A Soft Space for Hard Times, a retreat for women.

It’s no secret that most of us are struggling to keep up with the daily doses of outrage, injustice & collective grief we’re witnessing in our world. Keeping ourselves balanced & hopeful takes conscious, intentional effort right now. In this cozy and creative retreat, we’ll use guided, expressive writing exercises, creativity & contemplative practice to explore the challenges we’re all facing and weights we’re carrying, strategies for dealing with them, and guidance for finding balancing points between grief & gratitude, rage & joy, struggle & whimsy, darkness & light. As we shift into the dark season of the year, lean into the light you carry within and the light of this intentional communal experience to keep your fires burning. This is a perfect way to indulge in some self-care before the whirlwind of the holiday season.

Our retreat begins on Friday evening, Nov 6 at 6:00 for dinner together and an opening evening session. We’ll be together on Saturday from 10am-2pm, and again from 5-8pm for dinner and another evening session. You’ll have free time to explore the Hudson Valley from 2-5pm on Saturday. Our final session is Sunday morning, from 10am-12pm (breakfast included).

Our retreat will cap at 8 participants, keeping it intimate.

All meals are included, from dinner on Friday through breakfast on Sunday. We have three overnight guest rooms, with accommodations for 2-5 women, available at our studio space, on a first-come basis, so if you’re interested in staying with us, please reserve your space right away. *If you’re choosing to stay with us, an additional fee will apply on top of the retreat fee.

Other accommodations nearby include Airbnbs, hotels, & resorts.

Please bring your own notebook, journal, or laptop for the writing sessions. All other materials will be provided.

If you’re flying in or traveling by train, please make your own arrangements to arrive at the studio from airports in NYC or Albany, NY or via train to Poughkeepsie or Beacon, NY. There are no trains to our studio, so arranging for a car rental is the best option, and gives you freedom to explore the area before/after the retreat and during your free time on Saturday. More details will be provided for you when you register, but please know we sadly cannot coordinate or provide airport or train station pick-ups.

*Our main studio space is up a flight of stairs. We care about inclusion and we strive to accommodate differing physical abilities. As often as possible, we try to reschedule events for a different area of our studio to accommodate needs, but we are unable to offer an alternate option for this event. We will gladly schedule a more accessible version of this event in the future, so please let us know how we can accommodate you better in the future.

*Refund policy: For all registrations, there is a $250 non-fundable deposit. If you need to cancel within 45 days of the retreat, all funds will be refunded minus the $250 deposit. From 15-44 days before the retreat, 50% of the remaining funds—excluding the deposit—will be refunded. If you cancel 14 days or fewer before the retreat start day, no refunds will be issued.
